Member Profile: Jerry Dahlkemper

Jerry was born in Erie and quit school at sixteen to go sailing.  He spent four years in the Merchant Marine sailing the Great Lakes, the Atlantic, and the Pacific from 1943 to 1947.  After the war Jerry returned to get his High School Diploma.  He then proceeded to become a Cabinet Maker and did Finish Carpentry. 

Jerry then became Vice President of Physical Properties for Dahlkemper’s where he was employed for twenty six years retiring in 1991.  After retiring Jerry enjoyed volunteer work for Habitat For Humanity doing finish carpentry for twelve years.

Jerry is a founding member of Presque Isle Woodturners.  He is self taught and has always tried to experiment in his turnings.  He still would like to use his tools better as there is always room for improvement.
